A Guide to RSS Aggregators

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

One of the most popular features of Internet portals, websites, pages and even emails is a frame that features an organized list of news headlines and periodic updates from other web sources. Really Simple Syndication, formerly “Rich Site Summary” or simply, RSS makes this possible.

Most users visit a lot of websites whose content continually change, such as news sites, community organization or professional association information pages, medical websites, product support pages, and blogs. As Internet surfing became an intrinsic part of business and leisure, it became important to get rid of the very tedious task of repeatedly returning to each website to see updated content.

RSS easily distributes information from different websites to a wider number of Internet users. RSS aggregators are programs that use RSS to source these updates, and then organize those lists of headlines, content and notices for easy reading. It allows computers to automatically retrieve and read the content that users want, then track changes and personalize lists of headlines that interests them.

The specially made computer programs called “RSS aggregators” were created to automatically find and retrieve the RSS feeds of pre-selected internet sites on behalf of the user and organize the results accordingly. (RSS feeds and aggregators are also sometimes referred to as “RSS Channels” and “RSS Readers”.)

The RSS aggregator is like a web browser for RSS content. HTML presents information directly to users, and RSS automatically lets computers communicate with one another. While users use browsers to surf the web then load and view each page of interest, RSS aggregators keeps track of changes to many websites. The titles or descriptions are links themselves and can be used to load the web page the user wants.

RSS starts with an original Web site that has content made available by the administrator. The website creates an RSS document and registers this content with an RSS publisher that will allow other websites to syndicate the documents. The Web site also produces an RSS feed, or channel, which is available together with all other resources or documents on the particular Web server. The website will register the feed as an RSS document, with a listed directory of appropriate RSS publishers.

An RSS feed is composed of website content listed from newest to oldest. Each item usually consists of a simple title describing the item along with a more complete description and a link to a web page with the actual content being described. In some instances, the short description or title line is the all the updated information that a user wants to read (for example, final games scores in sports, weblogs post, or stock updates). Therefore, it is not even necessary to have a web page associated with the content or update items listed — sometimes all the needed information that users need would be in the titles and short summaries themselves.

The RSS content is located in a single file on a webpage in a manner not very different from typical web pages. The difference is that the information is written in the XML computer code for use by an RSS aggregator and not by a web user like a normal HTML page.

There are 2 main parts that are involved in RSS syndication, namely: the source end and the client end.

The client end of RSS publishing makes up part of the system that gathers and uses the RSS feed. For example, Mozilla FireFox browser is typically at the client end of the RSS transaction. A user’s desktop RSS aggregator program also belongs to the client end.

Once the URL of an RSS feed is known, a user can give that address to an RSS aggregator program and have the aggregator monitor the RSS feed for changes. Numerous RSS aggregators are already preconfigured with a ready list of RSS feed URLs for popular news or information websites that a user can simply choose from.

There are many RSS aggregators that can be used by all Internet users. Some can be accessed through the Internet, some are already incorporated into email applications, and others run as a standalone program inside the personal computer.

RSS feeds have evolved into many uses. Some uses gaining popularity are:

·For online store or retail establishments: Notification of new product arrivals
·For organization or association newsletters: title listings and notification of new issues, including email newsletters
·Weather Updates and other alerts of changing geographic conditions
·Database management: Notification of new items added, or new registered members to a club or interest group.

The uses of feeds will continue to grow, because RSS aggregators make access to any information that individual users like more convenient and fun.

3 Free Online Advertising Techniques You Can Start Using Today

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

The internet and Google have given business owners and entrepreneurs many opportunities to start a business and advertise them with little or no expense on their own behalf. There are many ways to promote a business, sell products and boost your reputation online.

In this article, I will share with you three free online advertising techniques that you can immediately implement for your business. I have outlined the three advertising and promotion techniques below. Even if you are using some paid advertising methods, each of these free options is beneficial and can be very effective when combined with other advertising techniques that you are using in your business.

  1. Article marketing

Article marketing has three main benefits. With article marketing, you can get backlinks to your website, you can build your reputation as an expert and you can presell your customers before they get to your website. There are many article directories out there. Articles get more traffic to your website through two ways. One is by boosting the ranking of your main website through search engine optimization and the other is through organic traffic as people read your article and click on your links.

  2. Get involved in forums

You should become active in forums related to your niche. They are a great way to build your reputation and you can generally advertise links in the signature of your forum posts.  Just be sure than your post contributes something useful and not just one or two words.  You will see people posting totally useless comments just to get a link back to their site.  Don’t be one of them.

  3. Post comments on blogs

Posting comments to blogs related to your product is another great free opportunity for you to advertise your product or website through posting comments in blogs that are related to your niche. As long as you make the comment relevant and informative, you should get a backlink to your website which should lead to more traffic.

The internet gives you some great opportunities for earning money online and this article has shared with you some great tips so that you can advertise your new business venture for free.

Consider a mentoring and teaching program that will show you a multitude of online strategies and techniques to build your business online.  Learning and then learning some more is the key to success online.

PROBLOGGING: MAKING MONEY FROM BLOGS

Friday, October 30th, 2009

A weblog (or simply blog) is a website that ‘publishes’ or features articles (which are called ‘blog posts’, ‘posts’, or ‘entries’), written by an individual or a group that make use of any or a combination of the following:

· Straight texts
· Photographs or images (photoblog)
· Video (videoblog)
· Audio files (audioblog)
· Hyperlinks

Usually presented and arranged in reverse chronological order, blogs are essentially used for the following purposes:

· Online journal or a web diary
· Content managament system
· Online publishing platform

A typical blog has the following components:

· Post date -the date and time of the blog entry

· Category – the category that the blog belongs to

· Title – the title of the blog

· Main body – the main content of the blog

· RSS and trackback – links the blog back from other sites

· Comments – commentaries that are added by readers

· Permalinks – the URL of the full article

· Other optional items – calendar, archives, blogrolls, and add-ons or plug-ins

A blog can also have a footer, usually found at the bottom of the blog, that shows the post date, the author, the category, and the ’stats’ (the nubmer of comments or trackbacks).

There are numerous types of blogs. Some of them are the following:

1. Political blog – on news, politics, activism, and other issue based blogs (such as campaigning).

2. Personal blog – also known as online diary that may include an individual’s day-to-day experience, complaints, poems, and illicit thoughts, and communications between friends.

3. Topical blog – with focus either on a particular niche (function or position) that is usually technical in nature or a local information.

4. Health blog – on specific health issues. Medical blog is a major category of health blog that features medical news from health care professionals and/or actual patient cases.

5. Literary blog – also known as litblog.

6. Travel blog – with focus on a traveler’s stories on a particular journey.

7. Research blog – on academic issues such as research notes.

8. Legal blog – on law (technical areas) and legal affairs; also known as ‘blawgs’.

9. Media blog – focus on falsehoods or inconsistencies in mass media; usually exclusive for a newspaper or a television network.

10. Religious blog – on religious topics

11. Educational blog – on educational applications, usually written by students and teachers.

12. Collaborative or collective blog – a specific topic written by a group of people.

13. Directory blog – contains a collection of numerous web sites.

14. Business blog – used by entrepreneurs and corporate employees to promote their businesses or talk about their work.

15. Personification blog – focus on non-human being or objects (such as dogs).

16. Spam blogs – used for promoting affiliated websites; also known as ’splogs’.

Blogging is typically done on a regular (almost daily) basis. The term “blogging” refers to the act of authoring, maintaining, or adding an article to an existing blog, while the term “blogger” refers to a person or a group who keeps a blog.

Today, more than 3 million blogs can be found in the Internet. This figure is continuously growing, as the availability of various blog software, tools, and other applications make it easier for just about anyone to update or maintain the blog (even those with little or no technical background). Because of this trend, bloggers can now be categorized into 4 main types:

· Personal bloggers – people who focus on a diary or on any topic that an individual feels strongly about.

· Business bloggers – people who focus on promoting products and services.

· Organizational bloggers – people who focus on internal or external communication in an organization or a community.

· Professional bloggers – people who are hired or paid to do blogging.

Problogging (professional blogging) refers to blogging for a profit. Probloggers (professional bloggers) are people who make money from blogging (as an individual blog publisher or a hired blogger).

Below are just some of the many money-making opportunities for probloggers:

· Advertising programs
· RSS advertising
· Sponsorship
· Affiliate Programs
· Digital assets
· Blog network writing gigs
· Business blog writing gigs
· Non blogging writing gigs
· Donations
· Flipping blogs
· Merchandising
· Consulting and speaking

The following are a few things that you need to consider if you want to be successful in problogging:

1. Be patient. Problogging requires a lot of time and effort, not to mention a long-term vision.

2. Know your audience. Targeting a specific audience or group is a key to building a readership.

3. Be an ‘expert’. Focus on a specific niche topic and strive to be the “go-to” blogger on that topic.

4. Diversify. Experiment with various add and affiliate programs that enable you to make money online (aside from blogging).

5. Do not bore your readers. Focus on the layout. White spaces, line spacings, and bigger fonts make a blog welcoming to read.

Certainly, it is possible to earn money from blogs. One just needs to take risks, the passion, and the right attitude in order to be a successful problogger.

Business Marketing Begins with Mentoring to Your Business

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Now I know what you are thinking, to be considered a respected expert I must possess the complete knowledge on the subject. Complete is the optimum word in that statement. For nobody knows everything, some know more than others that is true, but with some research, you can learn more than most.

Why?

Generally people are getting lazier because they believe that if they type in a term into Google, they can get the answer they need and then move on. So if you provide the answer, you have done what was necessary.

Finding the star prospect for building your business comes in the presentation of those answers. Presentation of facts on subjects that people are looking for answers should be structured in ways that keeps their attention level longer than they initially intended. Keep a prospect interested in your information; you are now implementing the magnetic attraction component of your business marketing model.

Attraction marketing; where is the make-up girl?

Your research produces the factual information regarding your product or service, now it is time for you to prepare the package. Wrap these facts with words of curiosity raising, interest grabbing story lines. Questions generate individuals to sit back and answer them before proceeding.

Mentoring to your business is engaging in conversation. Now using the internet, conversations are structured differently. Develop ways for your written words interact the reader is a way of mentoring to your business; structuring your video so the watcher is reacting is mentoring to your business.

And these reactions do not necessarily mean positive actions, purchasing actions, because a controversial reaction can gather steam. If what you present is based on fact but structured that causes someone to write out a comment, you have created magnetic attraction. If they have sat back and said to themselves, “I don’t believe that?” you have generated reaction.

Listen, marketing is capturing a potential customer’s attention. This is the major test in what you are presenting. If your not, these potential prospects are going elsewhere. It is an instant gratificational audience and this is unfortunate. Life happens over time but due to technology and developments with in, humans are now wired differently.

Instantly microwave me a marketing solution.

Business marketing requires a focus on the tendencies of your audience in regards to what you are providing them. If you are service related, then mentoring to your business may consist of presenting information about your successes. If you’re product related, then mentoring to your business is the benefit that they receive.

Finding the star prospect comes from this attraction to the presentation. That star prospect not only buys from you but speaks to others about your offer. Each business opportunity will have several of these ‘stars’ it is finding them that requires talented presentation.

Eagle Flight Marketing Group discusses marketing strategies on our site and we want you to visit us often, just to see what is newly presented. The Big Don’ts of Social Media Internet Marketing

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Social media networks have a big effect in internet marketing. Many online marketers know just how powerful these channels are and beneficial to their cause. So just what’s the role of social media networks to online marketing? In a nutshell, social media networks allow marketers to personalize their brand by communicating with peers, customers and prospects. This revolutionary way to interacting in a virtual platform has helped many small marketers to launch their business properly. But there are some serious no-nos you should know about.

Not interacting

Social media (keyword: social) are teeming with diverse communities and individual groups all interested in various and specific set of topics. If you’re using these networks as your internet marketing strategy, plain registering, launching and letting everything takes its course simply won’t cut it. Interaction is required and the crux of social media networks. If you concentrate too much on promotion and getting sales, you’re potential customers will likely see your efforts as selfish. Take some to know others and build a lasting, trustworthy relationship with them.

Being inconsistent

One of the costliest mistakes marketers make with social media internet marketing is inconsistency. Customers and potential clients are privy to your dedication to the group. If you start showing some signs of irregularities, they’ll quickly lose interest. Try to be active as much as you can. Not only will this help improve your self-esteem as a marketer but get to know your peers and customers better.

Spamming

Spamming has never been okay in the web. If you can get your ideas, products and services across effectively once, that would be great. Twice is okay. Thrice is still fine; but more than that is spamming. This sort of illicit activity is prevalent in social media networks, and you should be careful not line yourself with the offenders. Marketing shouldn’t be forced. Before sending any promotion or information to your potential customers, make sure they asked for it first.

Hoping to be followed immediately

The key in successful social media internet marketing is networking. If you’re just starting out, don’t expect everyone to follow you immediately. You must start a network from which you could benefit from. In short, before you become a leader, you should follow first. Since interaction is important in these sorts of channels, you should enter in the hopes of flying solo. You must be a follower first before your customers can follow you. You can even widen your network if you start following others.

Affordable PPC search engine advertising

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

PPC search engine advertising is by far the most affordable form of advertising available. PPC search engine advertising is a flourishing business that by 2008 is expected to reach $ 8 billion. PPC search engine advertising is about producing leads. Creating leads will help potential buyers find the specific website that will provide them with the product or service they need.

However, PPC search engine advertising does not end there. It is important to understand that although PPC search engine advertising generates leads, it is also important for users to find relevant information at the website they are directed to. Information is a valuable asset in PPC search engine advertising that is often left unchecked by many websites. Keep in mind that users are more likely to purchase products or services from a company that provided them with the necessary information they needed in the first place.

Qualified traffic with PPC search engine advertising

One of the benefits of PPC search engine advertising is that it provides qualified traffic to a specific website. Users that click on a PPC ad are those in search of a particular product or service. This helps eliminate unnecessary clicks from non-prospective buyers that only produce expenditures not profits. PPC search engine advertising is also the fastest way to get a reasonable return on investment.

A bidding process is used to establish the price of a specific keyword. In general, the budget for PPC search engine advertising may be a $100 to $100,000 depending on the number of keywords used. These prices can skyrocket in just minutes as more and more sites bid for the same keyword thus causing the prices to jack up.

PPC ads are placed alongside search engine results to which they are relevant. The highest bids for a specific keyword or phrase gets top billing on the search engine results page. Getting top placement provides greater odds for a PPC ad to get clicked by a qualified searcher.

Elements of PPC search engine advertising

PPC search engine advertising involves three basic elements; constant monitoring, response analysis and refinement as the essential factors involved in PPC search engine advertising. Proper management of PPC search engine advertising can result in big profits for a website.

PPC search engine advertising makes it possible for sites to monitor the productivity of each PPC ad they place. This gives a site the opportunity to turn off any PPC ad that is not performing at its best. PPC search engine advertising provides the most economical way for a site to advertise on the World Wide Web.

The cost entailed in PPC search engine advertising is dictated by the clicks made on a particular PPC ad. The number of clicks made on a PPC ad is subtracted from the initial amount paid by the business to a search engine company. To minimize cost and maximize return on investment, a business will have to regularly monitor its PPC search engine advertising campaign.

How to use PPC search engine advertising

Many businesses are unable to get the most out of their PPC search engine advertising campaign. PPC search engine advertising involves a lot more than just bidding on the highest keywords. Information is a main concern of many online users.

Providing online users with relevant information they need will help bring about a more long-term relationship with an online user that will more likely result in a sale.
Information provided to online users may be in the form of a newsletter or e-zine that online users would likely sign up for. Sign-ups may be enough to cover the expenses of a PPC search engine advertising campaign.

Sign-ups also help generate leads for websites as they build opt in list from qualified online searchers who clicked their PPC ad. Getting personal information from qualified online searchers can be done in a variety of ways such as offering freebies for surveys or signing up for newsletters.

PPC search engine advertising is a continuous process that requires hands on supervision and a thorough understanding of PPC search engines. Businesses may opt to hire the services of a professional or do PPC search engine advertising with in-house experts. Whatever course of action is selected, a business is sure to get a huge return on investment with PPC search engine advertising.

Be seen as the industry expert by using personal branding in your online marketing

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Personal branding is commonly talked about in online marketing. You will need to set up your website as “You, Inc.”. This establishes you as the industry expert and does a far better job of promoting your business than using a replicated company website.

This applies to independent contractors, associates, and affiliates, and people who can market themselves in their industry. This can be applied to a company website if you are an in-house marketer, but will need to come from a slightly different angle.

There are many ways you could design the site based on what you are promoting. It could be a lifestyle that people can have by working with you, or maybe their life will be better in a certain area. Those are the images you want to show them.

Although this site is about you, it is really about the customer relating to you and feeling that you have the answer to their problem. Your site should make them feel like they have found what they are looking for when searching for an answer to their problems.

The design should be done by a professional. You don’t want to appear as if you just started doing business online. A professional designer with online marketing skills will be able to help you position you better than you might see yourself.

There are so many websites in your market, it is important that “You, Inc.” represents quality content. This means you aren’t selling, and selling, and more selling. PPC marketing – Popular method of advertisement on the Web

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

PPC marketing or pay per click marketing is the most popular method of advertisement employed by various websites on the Internet. PPC marketing may often be referred to as pay for position, cost per click or pay for performance. But regardless of the term used, PPC marketing is the online advertiser’s medium of choice for promoting products and services to online consumers.

PPC marketing is beneficial to both the advertiser and the consumer. Advertisers using PPC marketing only need to pay for the actual click throughs linked to their sites from search engines. At the same time as consumers are relieved of having to get annoying emails or pop-up ads for products and services.

When an online consumer searches for a specific product or service on the Internet, corresponding PPC marketing ads are also displayed alongside the results generated by the search engine. This forms a highly targeted consumer group that is more likely to purchase a specific product or service. In addition, websites get to limit their advertisement costs with the use of PPC marketing. PPC marketing is truly a winning solution for both parties.

Possible drawbacks of PPC marketing

Despite the obvious advantages of PPC marketing, there are possible drawbacks that can cancel out its benefits. One of the most common problems associated with PPC marketing is the inexperience of many people attempting to use this profitable advertisement method. Simply submitting PPC marketing ads to a search engine such as google, does not make up the entire campaign.

PPC marketing requires a calculated and systematic approach to setting up ads. PPC marketing involves the use of keywords and biddings in order to get top placement on a search engine. Getting top search engine placement helps boost traffic to a website that can easily translate into profit.

Without the necessary experience and knowledge to carry out a typical PPC marketing ad, may turn into an expensive campaign that does not convert into profit. PPC marketing ads also require continuous funding, as discontinued payments will also result in discontinued ads. This can be unfavorable for a website that has already built high rankings with their PPC marketing ads.

Bidding on keywords can also be quite costly, as the growing number of websites on the web struggle against each other to bid on the most popular keyword for their PPC marketing ad. Obviously small business websites are at a disadvantage here since big business websites are able to pay more for popular keywords related to their site. This is because most small businesses only set aside a small portion of their capital for advertisement, putting them at a disadvantage.

Running an effective PPC marketing campaign

There are a number of things that a website should consider when running an effective PPC marketing campaign. It is important to develop a marketing plan in order to get the most return on investment from PPC marketing. Selecting the most appropriate keywords that relate to the site’s business is essential in PPC marketing.

However, simply choosing the most popular keywords does not necessarily translate into profit. Selecting more specific keywords that will put a site within the first ten results of a search also gets greater awareness from online consumers. In addition, it doesn’t cost as much as getting the top spot for PPC marketing.

It is also important that a website constantly monitors the performance of their PPC marketing campaign. This will help the site modify any existing PPC marketing ad to make it more productive. At the same time any PPC marketing ad that has not proven effective can be immediately discontinued. Altering PPC marketing ads is a continuous process that many websites do in order to increase their return on investment.

Getting professional help with PPC marketing

The popularity of PPC marketing has given rise to professionals offering PPC marketing services for small and big businesses. Hiring a professional PPC marketing company is advisable for a small business without experience in PPC marketing. Most PPC marketing companies offer reasonable rates for their services and at the same time produce acceptable results.

A PPC marketing professional can attend to all the details commonly involved in a PPC marketing campaign. Handling a PPC marketing campaign is a time consuming process that can be overwhelming for a small business. A PPC marketing professional can help set up a PPC marketing campaign and later on train someone from within the business to handle it to ensure its continued success.

Google Sniper – My Success Story

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

One day I woke up and decided that I was tired of being poor and not having enough money, time and freedom to do the things in life I really wanted to do. I was working in a job I hated and was coming home tired and stressed out every night. I was full of anger, mostly at myself, because I knew that there was much more I wanted to do with my life.

After all, it seemed that everyone was successful on the Internet with his or her home based business except me. I needed to find out how to make my business work. I knew that someone out there had the answers to the questions I was seeking. I was desperately searching for answers but they seemed to be hidden from me. I prayed with no results. I also asked for advice from other people and found out that most of them were as confused as I was.

So what did I do? I’m glad you ask that question.

Well, I didn’t give up. I kept a good attitude, made a commitment to one program and stayed persistent in my quest for answers. The program that I decided to commit myself to is Google Sniper.  Suddenly things began to change for me and amazingly, my income started to increase. My prayers were finally being answered. I started to make sales and receive checks in my mailbox. I knew that I had finally found the Secret to Success that I was searching for and today I am going to share that secret with you.

Let me ask you this…

Have you gotten to the point yet where you just want to quit and give up on your dreams? Have you made the money you thought you would with your home based business? Are you still spinning your wheels trying one program after another? It’s a vicious cycle. How many eBooks have you read claiming to have the secrets to internet success? How many times have you told yourself that this is the one…this time will be different?

Maybe you’ve started an online business and are having some success but not as much as you thought. If that’s you, then you need to hear this; it’s not your fault. The reason that I say it’s not your fault is because you’ve been lead to believe that online success is some magical formula that only gurus posses. Not true. What’s true is that you can have the same online success as anyone else; but you have to change the way you think about making money online, and align yourself with people who’re already successful. If you believe that you can make money online then you will and if you believe that you can’t make money online then you won’t. It’s just as simple as that.

What is the secret to success?

George Brown, the creator of Google Sniper, said it best “The secret to making real money online is to find a simple method that makes a little cash, turn it into a system, then work that system like there’s no tomorrow”.  The secret to my success, which is not a secret at all, is simply never giving up on my dreams. I found a program that I am passionate about and I will never quit. One of the biggest problems that cause home business failures is jumping from one program to another, or trying to manage too many programs at once. There are many proven and legitimate home business opportunities in which to choose, so choose one and stick with it.

Many people quit one program for another not knowing that success is just around the corner in search of something that does not even exist. There are no get rich quick programs, or any big secrets to know about. You just have to find a program that delivers what it promise and the Google Sniper system provides that, easily.  However, making money online is not an easy task. You must put in hard work, commitment, dedication, and determination to be successful working from home. Never give up.

Sandy L Murray is an online entrepreneur and provides information and advice about various products and services related to making money online. To learn more about how you can make money online visit http://googlesniperreview123.weebly.com/ to read the Google Sniper Review.
